The Next-Gen Animal Husbandry Strategy 2025–30, developed under the Global Forum for Sustainable Transformation (GFST) in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Andhra Pradesh, outlines a visionary plan to transform the state’s livestock ecosystem into a globally competitive, inclusive, and tech-driven powerhouse.
Key highlights of the strategy include:
-
Institutional & Capacity Development: Strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), SHGs, and cooperatives to build resilient livestock enterprises.
-
Smart Farming through AI & IoT: Leveraging artificial intelligence, sensors, and blockchain for disease prediction, real-time monitoring, and traceable supply chains.
-
Livestock Credit Plan: Mobilizing ₹15,000 crore in financing, empowering 25 lakh SHG women, and nurturing 1 lakh livestock entrepreneurs through structured credit systems.
-
Entrepreneurship Development: Promoting rural enterprises in dairy, poultry, piggery, and goat farming—enabling “farm-to-fortune” success stories.
-
Sex-Sorted Semen (SSS) Technology: Introducing game-changing breeding innovations to achieve 90% female calf births and increase milk productivity by 20–30%.
-
Feed & Fodder Security: Expanding high-yielding fodder crops, establishing silage units, and integrating fodder cultivation with SHG women’s livelihood programs.
-
One Health & Climate Resilience: Implementing cross-sectoral biosecurity measures, climate adaptation models, and circular economy principles for sustainable livestock growth.
The framework envisions Andhra Pradesh as a national model of next-generation livestock development—fusing digital governance, financial inclusion, and environmental responsibility to build a self-reliant, prosperous, and future-ready rural economy by 2030.
