The Maritime Strategy for Andhra Pradesh presents a comprehensive framework to establish the state as India’s strategic maritime gateway to the Global East. The document, released by the Department of Infrastructure & Investment, sets forth a vision for port-led industrial growth, blue economy expansion, and green logistics innovation.
With upcoming ports at Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Mulapeta, Andhra Pradesh aims to increase cargo handling capacity by 110 million tonnes, reduce logistics costs from 14% to 6–8% of GDP, and attract global investment in shipbuilding, containerization, and sustainable maritime infrastructure.
The strategy also highlights:
Integration of ports with industrial corridors, rail, and inland waterways to enable seamless multimodal logistics.
Development of port-linked industrial clusters and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
Digitalization and AI-driven port operations for real-time efficiency and transparency.
Green Port Mission initiatives promoting solar-powered terminals, EV logistics, and waste-to-energy systems.
Skilling programs to create a future-ready maritime workforce.
By aligning with national initiatives like Sagarmala and PM Gati Shakti, Andhra Pradesh envisions becoming a globally connected, sustainable, and innovation-driven maritime economy—positioning itself as India’s eastern trade powerhouse by 2047.
